How it started
AGO Consulting started with one business our family owns. On paper it was profitable. In the bank account, the money never seemed to be there and the owner couldn't explain the gap.
Alan rebuilt the books from the bank statements up: every expense sorted into categories, every revenue stream separated, the cash conversion cycle traced end to end. The work ran September through December of the previous year and produced a 24-slide forensic findings deck, a live KPI dashboard and a restructured expense base. It identified roughly $180,000 in annualized savings and cut operating expense by about 15%. That business is now on a monthly retainer and it's our first client.
That engagement is why this company exists. The 82% figure on our home page (small businesses that fail over cash flow) isn't an abstraction to us. Owner-operators rarely fail because the business is bad. They fail because nobody is watching the numbers closely enough, early enough. Alan was already doing that work in business analytics. Alyssa had been doing the same job from the operations side for years, running restaurants and fitness studios. Alan Gutierrez Ortiz, the Owner and Lead Consultant for AGO Consulting, also currently working at a top AEC firm as a data analyst. Alan has worked in business analytics both formally and informally since he was 20. He has worked alongside small business owners since his teens and got a behind-the-scenes view of operating businesses in the construction and food service industries. Through relentless pursuit of education Alan has earned multiple certifications concurrently to completing his degree in business/analysis and finance to make knowledge his priority to best serve his clients. He has heart behind everything he does and wants to see fewer small businesses across Utah struggle or fail due to cash flow issues. He plans to do just that with his skillset and with his small talented team of fellow consultants who he personally trains.
Alyssa Gallardo
COO & CSO
Alyssa has always had the goal of helping people through leadership and authentic conversation. She has been working in both restaurant management and fitness studio management since she was 17. She has helped small business owners reach broader audiences through business-to-business partnerships with a large fitness corporation. She has also helped multiple cosmetologists and mental health professionals increase their clientele through social media and in-person marketing campaigns. Alyssa is also a Realtor in Utah, connecting home buyers and sellers and helping take away the stress of the transaction of some of the biggest assets people have. Now with AGO Consulting she is looking to help business owners more comprehensively and give them their work-life balance back.
